Mastercopy Course

Throughout art history, artists have learned by studying and copying the great masters. From the old academies in Europe to the studios of classical painters, master copies have always been one of the most important ways to understand painting on a deeper level.

In this twelve-week atelier course, students will have the opportunity to create their own painted master copy inspired by an artwork they deeply love and admire.

Each student will choose a painting that speaks personally to them, and throughout the course I will guide them step by step through the entire process. Together, we will study the structure, colors, atmosphere, brushwork, and techniques behind the original artwork while also developing the student’s own understanding as a painter.

Having studied at one of Europe’s leading art academies, I want to share the same traditional methods that artists have used for centuries to learn painting through observation and practice.

This course is designed for students who want to spend time developing a painting slowly, carefully, and with deeper understanding. Throughout the twelve weeks, students will learn how to observe paintings more closely and understand how great artists built their work through layers, color relationships, light, edges, and atmosphere.

Each student will receive personal guidance throughout the process, allowing the course to become both a technical study and a personal artistic journey. The goal is not simply to copy a painting, but to understand it — to step into the mind of another artist and experience how a painting slowly comes to life.

At the end of the twelve weeks, students will bring home a finished painting that is deeply meaningful to them, together with a much stronger understanding of painting itself.

Because sometimes the best way to understand great art…is to paint it yourself.
